HANDMADE" AN ENDAGER TREASURE OF INDIA
This blog is written to regain the glory of Indian art by drawing people's attention to it. I wish this will be an inspiration and motivation for you.
Now, we are at the beginning of the 77th year of independence. In the last 76 years, we have developed excellently. Now, we have every comfort in our life. We say of ourselves that we are in the scientific age, we have developed spiritually in such a way that we call ourselves spiritually smart. Even we call ourselves that we have intelligent machines that can do the finest work.
Is not that so?
Yes, I tell you the truth of the present time. Most of us say the same words for ourselves, and even our next generation will consider themselves much wiser than we are. When time changes, people change and make themselves much wiser than the previous generation. That's why we call it generational difference. Butdo not underestimate the knowledge and skills of our ancestors. What he gave us is still among us. His works, his abilities, his excellence are always deeply rooted in our society and environment.
May I ask you a few silly questions? If you call yourself technologically developed, who were those who founded Harappa and Mohenjo-daro? And what is it famous for? What do you think of some of our famous temples that we call mysterious temples. Such temples as the 'Konark SunTemple'. What is your opinion about it? What about the 'Kailasha & LepakshiTemple'? I have many more examples for you, not only of temples but also of sculptures and monuments. All these works of our ancestors prove that they possessed unpredictable excellence and great knowledge. Yet, we have not yet reached that level of excellence, to be honest, we are still far from that excellence. Nowadays we use the most intelligent machines for the finest processing of work, but our ancestors did it better than just by hand. Still, there is no comparison between their excellence and our knowledge. So that was the real India, and they were Indian artists, and what they did is inspiration and motivation for us. But it is hard to say that we were not motivated by their works and that we did not preserve them. Nowadays, handmade products are hardly seen in our environment. Nowadays it is extremely difficult to find a sculptor. It is only part of museums and exhibitions. My friends, our ancestors carved India by hand, so you can say that this is our handmade India.
My friends, in India there were many forms of ancestral art. We can say that in today's 28 states or 400 cities or 6,40,930 villages, each has its own style of art, each art has its own uniqueness and excellence. It is not surprising that it has a direct connection with our culture. That is why we call it the ancestral art and culture. If we try to count the total number of art forms in India, then frankly we can say that it was not less than 6,40,930, which is equal to the total number of villages in India. But it is sad to say that at present we have very few art forms left in our society. These remaining art forms are also in danger of extinction. Day by day and with the change of time, each art form is gradually dying out. Some of the extinct and endangered art forms are Rogan painting, Parsi embroidery, rock painting, Manjusha painting, Paitkar painting, Pattachitra, Tikuli art etc. These are some of the most beautiful and famous art works of our ancestors which are in the stage of endangerment. Even in modern times, it is not possible for our best machines or most intelligent computers to create them in the same way as our ancestors did with their hands.
Nowadays, machine-made products are preferred only because they are the cheapest compared to handmade products. Even my friend, it is hard to find a person who has a deep affection for handmade products or old folk art. Nowadays, it is hard to find someone who is interested in learning these art forms. This is the reason why the prices of handmade products are a bit higher than machine-made products. This is causing some of our great art to become extinct and endangered. In addition, many producers of handmade products are not even able to make a good income. This is why I say that we are losing the diamond in search of the trash.
Now, my friends, is the time to take vigorous steps to develop and preserve our ancient folk art. It is not only the responsibility of governments to take care of them and preserve them. These art forms belong to us and are our treasure given to us by our ancestors, so why should only the government take care of them? Have you seen your grandparents or their ancestors? If so, you must have seen that they all had great artistic abilities. Within a week she/he made a carpet from palm leaves, and sometimes she/he made a bowl. So, this proves that these art forms belong to us. If we are not able to learn these arts, we can appreciate and promote them in other ways, such as buying handmade products all the time. You can decorate your house, bedroom, gallery, etc. with handmade products, or you can wear handmade clothes to achieve an ethnic look, and you can do many other things to promote the development and preservation of our endangered ancestral arts. If you do this, you will surely notice a wonderful change in your life. And the most important thing is that you will give a good life to the sculptor.
If you believe that God created this world with his hand, then, my friend, you must turn your attention to "A Handmade"
